Object description
An enlarged copy of a black and white photograph. It shows the exterior facade of the ‘Münchner Marionetten & Varieté-Theater’ by Franz August Schichtl. In front of the theatre, a large group of people can be seen, some walking past the theatre, others looking up the porch steps. Some people, presumably employees and guests of the theatre, can be seen on the veranda of the theatre. A small puppet theatre stage and a steam engine can also be seen on the veranda.

Object history
The archival document is an enlarged print of a photograph. The original black-and-white photograph has not yet been found in the archival records of KOLK 17. The number 18 has been noted in the bottom right-hand corner, which may indicate that the original photograph is in a photo album. The theatre depicted here belongs to Franz August Schichtl, which suggests that the original photograph was taken between 1849 and 1925.
