1912 - 1986
Fritz Fey Sr. only started puppeteering in 1945 and travelled with a mobile hand puppet theatre. In 1947, his wife Ingeborg Fey joined him and the two of them were now able to work in a more complex way. Marionettes soon replaced the hand puppets. Fritz Fey Sr. wrote the plays himself or adapted existing ones. Initially, he also carved them himself and later sculpted his puppets. In 1968, he opened the first puppet theatre museum in Schmilau, in the format of a “retirement home for puppets”. In 1977, Fey Sr. opened the Lübecker Marionettentheater at Kolk No. 20/22. Fritz Fey Sr. died in 1986.

(24.06.2025, EF)
