Object description
This object is probably a ‘booth puppet’ / kalakasogow, which are performed in the sogo bò theatre on an animal figure stage (kalaka kònò sogo).
The object features two puppets, which together depict a rider and his horse. Malick Tiena Dramé identifies the man as rich and high-ranking due to his means of transport. The horse has an elaborately designed bridle and saddle. The man is dressed in a boubou and a hat. (21.10.2024, EF)

Object history
The object must have entered the collection or been known before 1989, as there is both a drawing of the puppet and a mention of the rider in an essay by Dr H. W.-B. dating from that year. The name Konietzko is used in this context. It remains unclear whether Julius Konietzko or Boris Kegel-Konietzko is referred to.
The figures can be seen in the exhibition documentation from 1998 in one of the display cases in the old permanent exhibition. Until December 2017, it was also on display in one of the showcases in the permanent exhibition, St. Jürgen Gang, upper floor.
