Object description
Christian David Müller made this paper theater from Pollock's paper theater sheets, which shows a scene from Cinderella. The sheets were usually accompanied by Robert Louis Stevenson's essay “A Penny Plain and Twopence Colored”. The title goes back to the prices of paper sheets for paper theaters. Paper theaters made it possible to create and perform theater at home. Modern printing processes turned it into a mass medium in the course of the 19th century. In 2021, Germany added the paper theater to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. (15.05.2025, MP)
Object history
The paper theatre came to the Fritz fey jun. collection via the collector Christian David Müller, today collection KOLK 17 (09.05.2025, MP).
