1863 - 1943
Karl Winter Sr. (1863-1945), traveled through Schleswig-Holstein from the end of the 18th century. Around 1910, he settled permanently with his family in Leck (near Niebüll). Together with his wife Henriette (from the Franz dynasty of marionette players), he founded a traveling marionette theater - “Winter's mechanisches Kunstfiguren-Theater” - and traveled the immediate vicinity, usually within a radius of 15-60 km. This combination of sedentariness and mobile theater operation was rather rare at the time. (18.06.2025, EF)
