Object description
It is a cone-shaped textile figure on which many different rag dolls are sewn. The artist Kiki Suárez emigrated from Germany to Mexico. At the beginning of the 1980s, she founded an alternative school where she sewed dolls with young people for several years. This also involved the role of their own grandmothers. These figures inspired Suárez to create the Great Mother of the World. She collected many rag dolls, sewed some herself and finally attached them to a giant rag doll - a great-great-grandmother doll - a world mother. (24.01.2025 MP)
Object history
The World Mother figure was donated to the then TheaterFigurenMuseum in 1993 by the artist and creator of the figure Kiki Suárez (Irene Elisabeth Oberstenfeld-Suárez). (22.11.2024 MP)
