Object description
Lene's head, hands and shoes are carved from wood and have a strong artistic style. She wears her orange hair, which is made of wool, in a bun just above her forehead. Her lower lip is strikingly large and her eyes are closed and covered with thick eyelashes. Lene is wearing dark grey shoes, a turquoise dress with a floral pattern, a grey apron and a dark green knitted shawl around her shoulders. Lene is a marionette. The handwritten note ‘Lene, Spinnerin’ can be found on the play cross. (14.02.2025, EF)
Object history
Lene is one of the spinners from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale ‘The 3 Spinners’, which was played at the Marionettenbühne Lörrach. She was designed and created between 1976 and 1977 by Karl-Hans Bachmann. Her costume was made by Anne-Rose Bachmann. Lene and the entire ‘Bachmann collection’ were initially given to the Figurentheatermuseum - Sammlung Fritz Fey as a permanent lent on 14.02.1992. On the 15.10.1992 Dr Werle-Burger confirmed receiving the collection. On the occasion of K.-H. Bachmann's 70th birthday, the collection was gifted to the Figurentheatermuseum on 04.02.1995.
